MISSION BALKANS  is an initiative launched by  Italian Ministries  to spread a passion for God’s mission throughout the countries of the Balkan peninsula.

During 2016, over 200 pastors and Christian leaders from the nations of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia, Kosovo, and Albania attended a strategic missions conference in Italy, Congresso Missione – M16. John Piper was the keynote speaker and addressed the theme of God’s Passion for Mission. At the congress, not only did the Balkan delegates enjoy a memorable experience, but they were able to connect among themselves and begin thinking through the theme of mission in the Balkans. A significant step was taken in developing the vision and initial funds were raised. Our next step is to reach further into the Balkans with a vision for mission and the provision of strategic gospel resources.

Below you can see the highlights of the M16 congress and listen to John Piper’s post-congress remarks. You can also learn more about current opportunities in which you can partner with this developing initiative in the Balkans.

Long-term, we are prayerfully seeking to identify ways in which Christians throughout the Balkans can be mobilized, trained and equipped for mission. As part of that we are seeking to understand how significantly and sensitively we can provide strategic and theologically sound resources to further the gospel mission.

We would love for you to join us in this endeavor and partner with us to make this happen.

Stevo Vuletic, General Coordinator for M17, and a group of key individuals in the Balkans are helping us organize the event and the developing vision.

M17 Balkan Conference / 21-23.09.2017

M17 Mission Balkans is the anticipated follow-up event to Congresso Missione 2016. The purposes of this conference are to continue developing a Balkans-wide vision for mission and to gather strategic pastors and leaders from the countries of Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Albania.

During the three days we will be building upon the theme from M16, Passion for the Word, Passion for the World. This time will be spent studying Scripture, worshipping together, discussing, networking, and looking ahead with hope as we seek together to respond the the multiple opportunities and needs throughout those countries.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Tim Savage, former pastor of Camelback Bible Church, and a founding Council member of The Gospel Coalition.  We will also be welcoming Scott Anderson, President and CEO of Desiring God, one of our key partners. We are grateful for the The Gospel Coalition, 9 Marks Ministries and Radical who will be providing books for the participants.

M17 is a part of a broader vision to see the Balkans significantly impacted by theologically-sound resources and initiatives. It is hoped that not only will churches throughout the Balkans benefit from this, but that it might encourage a greater vision for mission throughout the region and beyond.

In line with this desire, here are some of the projects we have been working on:

  • In 2016, in partnership with Crossway, we translated Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ, by John Piper into Serbian.
  • We developed an online portal in Croatian, RadosnaVijest.com, and translated the entire set (a year’s worth) of Solid Joys daily devotional articles.  The portal also features translated sermons, articles and subtitled video messages by John Piper and others.
  • We are currently finalizing the translation of Don’t Waste Your Life  by John Piper into Albanian.
  • One of the great needs is to have quality theological training for the Balkans. Theological textbooks are necessary.  We are partnering with the Gospel Coalition’s International Outreach to raise awareness and help with translation and distribution of quality theological resources for the Balkans. Read more about current TGC projects underway, or click the button to go directly to the TGC donation page.
  • Additionally we are working on the translation and publishing of David Platt’s articles and messages from Radical.net,
  • We hope to provide translation (into multiple languages) of additional online resources (TGC, DG, 9Marks, and others).

We also continue to be in discussion and prayer about other appropriate projects. Please contact us if you want to know more.
